Solar Winds seeks Network Engineer

We’re seeking a candidate with strong technical knowledge and aptitude to fill an amazing Network Engineering opportunity. This position includes the opportunity to work with network, systems, and VoIP technologies in a fast paced and exciting environment. Current environment includes Cisco ACE, GSS, ICM, IPCC, Unity, ASA, and other standard Cisco equipment for routing and switching. Qualified candidates will have an existing working knowledge of some of these technologies with the ability and ambition to continue to sharpen their skills in both the networking and systems arenas.

Job Responsibilities:
• Support existing LAN/WAN and enterprise network and systems infrastructure, including design, implementation, migrations, documentation and decommissioning.
• Provide daily support for firewall and switching changes.
• Provide root cause analysis for all network related issues.
• Optimize network services to achieve enhancements in performance and availability while simultaneously achieving cost reduction.
• Participate in team meetings and project planning sessions.
• Provide updates, presentations and recommendations on the state of assigned duties.

Requirements:
Network Engineer Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or analytical discipline (ie: Computer Science, mathmatics, etc)
• Knowledge of layer-2 network design and protocols.
• Knowledge of routed and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
• Knowledge of client and site to site VPN.
• 3-5 years experience in network design, implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting in an Enterprise network environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills and Competencies/Knowledge:
• Cisco or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of security protocols and implementations including IPSec, NAT, ACLs
• Knowledge of content delivery/application availability using load balancers
• Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (server)
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Exchange, AD, etc)
