Technology Strategist - Dell's Data Center Solutions Group
This is a director level role with significant responsibility. Great opportunity in a group that is ramping.
• This individual will be responsible for providing technical leadership associated with the architecture of firmware for several key subsystems and forward-looking features.
• This individual will work closely with a team of architects and must be capable of collaborating in the specification of next generation DCS (Data Center Solutions) and cloud computing products.
• In addition to overall systems software engineering experience, this position requires in-depth knowledge of power management systems, BIOS, BMC/server system management, storage option ROM, etc.
• This architect must be able to design with performance of speed/power in mind as well as be able to measure and to provide guidance to improving performance of an overall system.
• Duties include all activities necessary to collect customer requirements and develop product specifications to satisfy customer's needs.
• This position is responsible for ensuring that solutions meet the requirements, and that product cost, timeliness and quality meets expectations.
• This position will work directly with customers, field solution architects and marketing team to understand the requirements for the customer, and then work with the development team responsible for platform and qualification of the optimum system solutions for this global customer base.
• This individual will be required to work with relevant technology providers and ODMs and create the capability to produce a test BIOS or BMC firmware for proof of concept and laboratory purposes. sourcing, development, Solution optimizations include such factors as CPU performance in a web service or HPCC environment, relevant platform density, annual operational cost, technical suitability, cost, reliability, and industry standards compliance.
• This individual will also work closely with the office of the CTO server team and PE server engineering team to ensure consistent and global sharing of information and lessons learned.
Qualifications
• Direct experience in development and/or architecture role of software or firmware solutions associated with power management, BIOS, BMC/server system management, storage, or equivalent technologies.
• Ability in organizing and managing multiple projects, setting priorities and working independently under aggressive timelines.
• Ability to write and analyze requirements, architectural specifications, design specifications, plans, and documentation.
• Advanced knowledge of server architect specifically in a web services, cloud computing environment.
• This individual should also have a working architectural knowledge of server virtualization. (VMware, XEN, MSFT) and a working ability to drive cross-functional development efforts through conception, planning, and into implementation.
• A thorough understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products, and competitor's offerings is required along with the ability to analyze options for critical elements and features and determines optimum selection.
• MSEE, MSCE, or MSCS (preferred) w/ 10+ years of experience; will consider 15+ years of experience with BSEE, BSCE, BSCS, or equivalent.
